Easter 2009

Hagen had SO much fun hunting for Easter eggs on Easter morning. I love that he gets so into it and gets so excited when he finds an egg. It was fun. He even looked under the couch - he was very thorough!

One night (a few nights before Easter, no less!) Daddy and Hagen found a little nest of baby bunnies in the backyard. They were SO cute. They were only around a few days and I think they've moved, but it was fun to see them. Their little nest was right under our Bradford Pear tree in the backyard.

This is his new "silly monster face". I don't know where he came up with it, but he's pretty proud of it. :-)

Hagen learns lots of songs at school, and one they learned recently was the Baby Bumblebee song. I asked him if he would sing it so I could record it. I LOVE this!!

On April 15th our office (and spouses and kids) went to Mi Cocina for our after-tax-season dinner. Hagen, Mandy and Emma had lots of fun playing outside and watching the ducks. Hagen was WIRED and just kept running in circles, falling down, and running in more circles. It was funny. Jenn and I took the kids to a movie before dinner (we saw "Monsters vs. Aliens") and I think the fruit punch he drank went straight into his bloodstream. This was the first time Hagen had been to the movie theater and he really liked it. He was so cute sitting in his chair, eating popcorn and drinking his fruit punch. It was fun. He really paid attention to the movie the whole time. We've never watched an entire movie all the way through and I thought he might lose interest, but he didn't. We were the only ones in the theater which was nice for his first experience. He and the girls could talk and comment on the movie without bothering anyone.

New fish....take 2

To make a long story short, Hagen's fish all died. We decided to just get a betta fish. I have had those in the past and they lived for a couple of years each, so I'm hoping that will be the case with our new fish, Rudolph the Reindeer (yes, Hagen named him...and no, he's not red). He's got it made in the tank all by himself. He's really pretty and I hope he will live a long, happy life!!

This is the morning after his haircut this past weekend. Hagen did REALLY well getting his hair cut this time. We went to a different place, and Opa and Oma were with us, too. He did cry in the beginning but didn't fight it as much and eventually was just sort of whimpering but not fidgeting and struggling.

Hagen had been wanting to sleep with one of the pillows from the couch so we thought it was time to get him a toddler pillow. We got the pillow then went and got a bedset from Target. We haven't converted the daybed to a regular bed yet, but the sheets look really cute and he likes them. He looks so cute and grown-up sleeping under the covers, using a pillow . One night he had on McQueen pajamas, was in his bed with the McQueen sheets, and he also has a big McQueen pillow and calendar in his room. I told him it looked like his bedtime was sponsored by Cars.

I can't believe it's been more than a month since I last posted!!!

I hadn't realized it had been so long! Here's what's been happening with us.

First of all, a couple of weeks ago, Hagen's teacher at school asked if we had any underwear for him. I said we did have some I had bought recently but hadn't opened them yet. She said she wanted to start trying him in underwear and PullUps at school because she thought he was ready. We've been slowly potty training and he was using it every now and then to pee, but I hadn't thought about trying the underwear yet. The first couple of days in his underwear he had poop accidents, but after a few days Miss April said they didn't even put a PullUp on him for nap - they left him in his underwear and he woke up dry and went potty! We are still having poop issues, but he goes peepee in the potty just fine and we're taking him more often now. It's a slow process, but he LOVES his big boy underwear and is very proud of it! We are using PullUps most of the time, and he only wears a diaper at night now. Big boy!!!

Here is Hagen with his golf bag and clubs. Opa actually bought him a real toddler-sized putter (he also bought Hagen the toy golf bag and clubs), and it's called a "Hagen Junior" - some famous golfer apparently has the last name of Hagen and made the line of kids' golf stuff, so of course Opa had to buy that for him. :-)

One weekend we took out the Blue Angels kite that Opa bought for Hagen. It was REALLY windy and cold so we only stayed out for a little bit, but it was fun. We'll try again when it's not cold and windy.

We discovered, thanks to our neighbors, a really cool park not too far from us that has a duck pond. We bought a bag of cracked corn at the pet store to feed the ducks with - thanks to Grandmommie's research we are trying to help the ducks by feeding them something healthy because bread is BAD for them. I took Hagen one day, but unfortunately all the ducks were already stuffed so they weren't coming over. There was this one, though, all by himself, so we decided to see if he was hungry. I was really proud of Hagen - he wasn't scared to approach the duck. We went last weekend and got a better response and it was fun. There is also a really cool playground and fishing pier - it's a neat park.

Fun with balloons and other things

Hi! It's been awhile. Here are some random pictures from over the last month. :-)

One night our friend Mike came over to visit, and we were playing with some balloons we had. I let Hagen pick out a package of balloons one day because he loves playing with them. Anyway, we had a bunch blown up and were having fun doing science experiments with electricity. The two big boys were having just as much fun as the little boy. I love the one that's stuck to his bum.

Here is our new storage cubby thing in the living room that I bought at Lowe's to help keep things more organized. I had overheard a lady at Super Target tell her husband that storage things were cheaper at Lowe's. I thought that was impossible and that she just didn't fully appreciate the greatness of Super T, but I figured I would check it out...and she was right! It wasn't my favorite thing in the world, basically due to the color since we don't really have anything else that's white, but I do really like it because it stores everything I was trying to get contained better, so I'm happy. And Hagen can reach everything really easily so that's good.

One night, Hagen wanted Daddy to toss him on the couch so I took some action shots as they did this over and over again. It was funny and Hagen LOVED it.

After a bath...

Shawn and I had talked about getting Hagen a fish so we finally decided to do that. It turned into a bigger ordeal than I intended, but now I'm glad! I had gotten rid of a fishbowl I had a long time ago, so I was just going to get another big bowl and a betta fish. Long story short...we have a 5.5 gallon aquarium and 5 little fish. So far they've survived a day and a half so I'm hoping that's a good sign. When we pulled into the garage after getting the fish, Hagen said, "We're home, fishies!".
